Intuitive Nature Artworks

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

Hello Intuitive Beauties.

When it comes to creativity, hands down my favourite inspiration is Mama Nature. To me, Nature is both inspiring and calming all in one. Her diversity, beauty and abundance never ceases to amaze and inspire me.

Intuitive Nature Artwork

In recent times, I have reinvented a technique I originally learned in Art school back in the early 2000's, called 'blind contour drawing'. It involves looking carefully at an object and sketching it without looking at the page and I have tweaked it to incorporate layering and composing individual items from Nature that inspire me ... flowers ... leaves ... seed pods ... trees, roots, rainbows and mountains.

Outside of my sketch book, I'm always open to the awe that Nature displays for us in everyday Life. My camera roll on my phone is filled with snap shots of beautiful findings along my journey to drop my son off at school, trips to the beach, holidays away up the coast. Yet, there's also loads off inspiration right here at home ... even the succulents and hanging baskets on my front porch and in my back deck Art Studio are fair game!

Connecting with Nature is such an important part of being human. What we find beautiful, we conserve and nurture.

Making Art is a way of honouring something beautiful, both within and outside of ourselves. Whether I'm drawing from a photo or real-life, the natural essence that shines through from this process feels so beautiful, raw and vulnerable to me;  just like emulating Nature Herself.

We are Her and She is Us.

That's why I've created a special Women's Intuitive Art Class to teach my fave Intuitive Nature processes from my homely studio next weekend. In this lesson, we will use our breath, our imagination and senses with pens and watercolours to create beautiful Intuitive Nature-based Artworks, without fear of making mistakes. This class is truly fun and achievable for all abilities.

>> 'INTUITIVE NATURE ARTWORKS' - SAT 28th APR, 2pm - 4pm

Connect with your Inner Wisdom and Mama Nature to create a beautiful Artwork using mindful drawing techniques.

If you're in the Redcliffe area and would like to come and join me ...

Inside my Spirit Portraits class

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

This past weekend I was joined in my Intuitive Art Studio by a beautiful group of women, ready for a gorgeous session of creating Intuitive Spirit Portraits.

I started by sharing a scrummy Spirit Guide meditation to lay the foundation for our Artworks, then we loosened up with some freeform, collaborative Art-making.

From here, it was time to symbolise elements from our intuition, meditation and imagination using my lovely big stash of National Geographic magazines. There was such a lovely calm, yet inspiring vibe as we created together; tearing, cutting and pasting magazines and playing with paints and inks.

By the end of the session, we had birthed some amazing Spirit Portraits into the world. Check out pics of our session together below ...

If you’re keen to join my next Women’s Intuitive Art Class, check out my upcoming offerings HERE. I'll be sharing 'Mindful Nature Artworks' on Sat 28th Apr + 'Intuitive Mixed Media Drawing' on Sat 26th May.

Winter Intuitive Art Retreat

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

Hello Beauty,

I am thrilled to announce that I will be teaching Intuitive Mixed Media Art at the upcoming 2018 McGregor Winter Retreat, in the beautiful grounds of USQ, Toowoomba on 2nd - 6th July, 2018.

In this Intuitive Wisdom Art course, you will access a playful and spirited mixed media approach to creating richly satisfying Art. You will be guided as you explore your intuitions using acrylic paint, watercolour, collage, drawing, nature and engage your senses through mindfulness and setting intentions.

Each day together in the studio, you will learn a new series of inspiring techniques to connect your Intuitive Wisdom with meaningful art-making. Far from being a ‘paint-by-numbers’ class, this workshop is designed to access your unique creative voice to create meaningful artworks for you.

I've created this course to unfold over the full 5 days, using gentle guidance and demonstrations to help you to surrender into the process of creativity and feed your wellbeing in the process.

Intuitive Still Life Art Class

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

One of my all-time fave techniques to use in my own Artworks is blind contour drawing. This a process where you look at an object carefully and draw without looking at the page. So fun and intuitive! Naturally, I've been looking forward to sharing it with my little Intuitive Art students!

After a meditation using our senses with an array of natural items on the table such as shells, plants and seed-pods, we started by looking at my nature sketch book for inspiration. Each of us chose a natural object to feel, smell and look at carefully to notice its intricacies.

The children spent a whole song-length to draw their object using the blind contour technique; which helps Artists to fine-tune their drawing techniques by capturing what we truly see, not just what our mind thinks it should look like. After each song, we moved around the table to get a view of a new natural item/different perspective and practiced drawing with various prompts such as smaller, larger, turning our pages upside down and drawing with our left hand! Some of the kids even drew each other from across the table - cool idea!

Afterwards, we spent the rest of the lesson using watercolours and metallic acrylic paints to intuitively fill in shapes and spaces on our page.

What a fun and freeing process today's class was! I think these would look lovely in a colourful IKEA frame!

Colour Mixing Rainbows

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

It's no secret that I love me a bit of rainbow coloured action and this term I've been doing some work every Friday afternoon in my son's grade 1 class, to teach all about colours and mixing.

Over three weeks, we identified primary then secondary colours, learned about the colour wheel, drew and painted colourful images in each colour and collated them all together in the final week to create a 'rainbow' for their room. Bringing 20+ six year olds together in a room of paint will always be a little chaotic but boy, they had fun! Check out our process, below.

Kids Intuitive Dream Catchers!

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

You guys, today we had the most lovely rainy afternoon together making Dream Catchers in Kids Intuitive Art Class!

We started out with a meditation about our dreams and intentions and the children got to imagine sending these thoughts and visualisations into a beautiful web of loveliness, ready to manifest into their lives! We talked about how traditionally, dream catchers had been used to 'catch' any scary dream energy and how we can set an intention to transmute them into loving kindness. The kids LOVED this idea and talked about how they were going to hang them in their rooms for sure to catch any nightmares!

From here, we practiced some colour mixing on paper plates and used colourful wool, card, feathers, beads and sequins to decorate and create the structure for our Dream Catcher.

I love how each one is so unique, just like their creators. Who wouldn't want one of these beauties hanging in their homes?!

Big Love,

Kids Intuitive Self-Portraits #1

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

What a great session we all had together in Kids Intuitive Art Class today!

Today we worked on Intuitive Self Portraits. We started with a meditation to identify what we love most in our lives; from loving our own bodies to loving our families, our favourite places and nature’s flora and fauna. Abbi loved ‘All nature’, Maya loved ‘Mountains’ and Byron loved ‘Donuts!’

Next, we imagined ourselves as who we want to be when we grow up, which included awesome responses such as 'A Teacher surrounded by annoying kids' ... 'A Dentist with 11 kids of her own' ... and 'An Art Teacher!'

We then used this content to inspire our Intuitive Self Portraits, by looking in the mirror at our key features and imagining our faces and bodies surrounded with drawings of our favourite intuitive insights.
The children took such time and care (and humour!) creating their pieces that we’ve decided to continue working on this lesson next week as well.

The final image is my demo. Haven't the children all done an amazing job so far?! I just love creating alongside the kids as we chat - it's a really beautiful and informal way to teach, share and companion alongside them throughout their process. I learn so much from them!

This is truly, the best job in the world to be doing this work with kids!

Intuitive Intentions Art Class

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

I’m still buzzing from a beautiful Women's Intuitive Art Class in my studio yesterday with the most gorgeous group of women!

Together, we chatted, drew, collaged, meditated, sipped tea, ate treats, and shared our journeys with one another. More than anything, we showed up for ourselves, which is the most powerful act we can do. Scroll below through the pics of our beautiful day, taken by the amazingly talented Sam Covey

The theme for this month's Art Class was 'Intuitive Intentions'.

I’m totally in love with my new studio space! She held us all our colours so beautifully. Xx
What a joy it is to be back teaching again!
