Intuitive Nature Artworks

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

Hello Intuitive Beauties.

When it comes to creativity, hands down my favourite inspiration is Mama Nature. To me, Nature is both inspiring and calming all in one. Her diversity, beauty and abundance never ceases to amaze and inspire me.

Intuitive Nature Artwork

In recent times, I have reinvented a technique I originally learned in Art school back in the early 2000's, called 'blind contour drawing'. It involves looking carefully at an object and sketching it without looking at the page and I have tweaked it to incorporate layering and composing individual items from Nature that inspire me ... flowers ... leaves ... seed pods ... trees, roots, rainbows and mountains.

Outside of my sketch book, I'm always open to the awe that Nature displays for us in everyday Life. My camera roll on my phone is filled with snap shots of beautiful findings along my journey to drop my son off at school, trips to the beach, holidays away up the coast. Yet, there's also loads off inspiration right here at home ... even the succulents and hanging baskets on my front porch and in my back deck Art Studio are fair game!

Connecting with Nature is such an important part of being human. What we find beautiful, we conserve and nurture.

Making Art is a way of honouring something beautiful, both within and outside of ourselves. Whether I'm drawing from a photo or real-life, the natural essence that shines through from this process feels so beautiful, raw and vulnerable to me;  just like emulating Nature Herself.

We are Her and She is Us.

That's why I've created a special Women's Intuitive Art Class to teach my fave Intuitive Nature processes from my homely studio next weekend. In this lesson, we will use our breath, our imagination and senses with pens and watercolours to create beautiful Intuitive Nature-based Artworks, without fear of making mistakes. This class is truly fun and achievable for all abilities.

Connect with your Inner Wisdom and Mama Nature to create a beautiful Artwork using mindful drawing techniques.

Nature Inspiration

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

Hello beauty,

What I've been really feeling called to connect with lately is how effortlessly Mother Nature inspires us with her beauty. Truly, whenever we take the time to nourish ourselves with a walk in the great outdoors, there is so much gorgeousness at every turn.

A daily walk has been part of my self-care practice for many years now. Actually if I'm honest, it's probably more like 5 times a week. But even if it's just a 10 minute walk down the road, there's something about being in nature that brings me back into myself. I feel refreshed, invigorated and strangely enough - more positive about the future of our planet.

Because when I'm connecting with nature, I can take time to step out of my busy mind and instead, notice how incredibly She evolves, adapts and grows ... and that brings me such hope and trust in the intelligence that underlies our lives and the Universe.

The truth is, ever since I was a child, I've felt absolutely in awe of nature's expression and ecosystems. Whether it's the shape of a smooth, curved leaf, the reflections or patterns on the surface of a water, tadpoles in a creek or a surprise visit from nature's creatures - my goodness - I can't help but see it all as a beautiful blessing every time.

As humans, we are wired to protect the things we love. I see my role as an Artist as someone who can share my inner feelings and expressions through my work and for me that means, Mother Nature. When we are so busy, we often forget how beautiful the very place we live in is. But it doesn't take much to connect with Her and drink in her natural beauty.

All of the images I've shared with you here are within a 5 minute walk from my house. There is a creek that runs behind my house and about a year ago, I discovered that the local green group had cleaned up a pathway through the bushland alongside it. It's now become like a sacred ritual to visit here and because it's a place I've grown to admire so much, I feel so deeply passionate about conserving, showcasing and sharing its beauty with others.

Children's nature art

Feeling inspired, this week, I taught an intuitive nature art session with my son's prep class. I just love how having conversations with children can so easily open them up to the beauty and awe within us all. And I have learned that this awe actually never leaves us, we just get too busy to notice it.

So this week, I invite you to visit somewhere natural and reconnect with that sense of wonder and beauty that exists every day around us. It doesn't need to be a grand gesture - most of us can find somewhere natural within 5 - 10 minutes of our home.

If you feel so inclined, you might like to make it a photo walk - get down low and look at the little wild flowers growing in the cracks of the pavement, or the shimmering light shining through the canopy of trees overhead. The camera in your phone is enough for this.

I can guarantee - I promise - you will return feeling all the better for it. Because when we connect with nature, we also connect with the natural part of ourselves within. Our planet is truly the most magnificent gift; an incredible ecosystem, which we are a part of. When we remember to appreciate and nourish Her, we in turn, nourish ourselves and every other thing on the planet benefits.

If you feel inspired to connect with nature creatively, I invite you to check out my Mindful Nature Artwork e-class, online with Wanderlust 2018. Details on my classes page HERE.

My Bali Trip

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

Ahhh ... it's been a few days since I've returned home from a beautiful, soulful trip to Bali. To be honest, I hadn't expected to be moved so much by this beautiful little country! Yet with all the travels I've experienced worldwide in my life, the city of Ubud has truly captured my heart and soul like no other.

heart offerings

My week in Ubud, Bali was the first time I'd been on an extended trip since my son was born 5 years ago. I used the time to soak up all the incredible Art + Culture + Spirituality of the place ... and I have returned with a broader heart and incredible inspiration for future Artworks to come.

Below are some of the inspiring offerings I came across during my travels ...

What I loved most about the Balinese Art is how much it is a part of the natural and cultural landscape. There are literally Art galleries every three to four shops along and the street art was no exception. Walking along I saw large murals nestled amongst overgrown and abandoned buildings and popping out during rainforest walks and roadside spaces. The Indonesian culture expressed in Artistic form was an unexpected, delicious treat for me. So cool!

The Spiritual feeling in Ubud is palpable. Literally the front of every home, business and temple showcase beautiful offerings of flowers, incense and treats for the Gods, celebrating gratitude and good luck for the day ahead. During my stay I learned how to create offerings and watch out for them as I walked, careful not to step on them.

Every few metres there are amazing statues, stones and carvings to be found depicting Life, Spirituality and Culture in Bali.

The stonemasons of Bali have to seen to be believed - These guys work fast! The first day I arrived there were a handful of sculptors beginning work on a large wall piece and by the end of my stay, the wall sculpture was almost complete.

I particularly enjoyed spotting inconspicuous carvings amongst nature, as well as welcoming carvings at business entrances, bridges and even on roundabouts.

During this trip I got to tick a huge item off bucket-list - exploring the beautiful rice paddies. I could have trekked them for hours, just soaking up the beautiful greenery and sounds of trickling water as the springs irrigated the cleverly designed working rice farms.

Even in the middle of Winter in Bali, the weather is warm, humid and the landscape lush and vibrant. Bali quenched my insatiable thirst for flowers, moss, vines, mountains and waterfalls and I wasn't disappointed by the views almost everywhere I looked.

I can truly say I found it so much easier to be present and supported by the culture and lifestyle of this beautiful country. I feel changed by the combined Art + Culture + Spirituality of Bali and have returned with a broader heart and incredible inspiration for future Artworks to come.

Family Holiday Break

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

Alexandra Headlands

Hello my beauty, I hope you have begun your 2016 with hope and love in your heart.

Today I will be heading up the coast for a family break to this beautiful place, Alexandra Headlands. It's a lovely place I used to go as a teenager and am looking forward to sharing with my son and husband for the next week. My shop will be in vacation mode during this time.

To see the New Year in, I meditated and received the word: Wisdom. I feel the year ahead will be an opportunity to go within and connect with my heart-of-hearts, where the wisdom of our beautiful Universe resides.

I also looked back over my year in Art, a visual journey of my 2015. It's so humbling to recall my experiences, challenges and transformations for the year past.

Finally, if you haven't had a chance to check out my 2016 Intuitive Oracle reading, you can do so below. I have been receiving such wonderful feedback from inspired women.

Wishing you a beautiful year ahead, with a wide open heart.

All my Love,

Chrissy xx

Work in Progress ~ Collage

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

A few weeks ago I got a package of new Golden neon paints in the post. I've been wanting to try these for aaaages and I wasn't disappointed - rather than being transparent like other cheap neon paints, these Golden neons are thick, opaque and buttery.

As I often do, I worked on a few Artworks at a time ... and as often happens I got carried away with paint until the page was overwhelmed like an overgrown forest of colour! The beauty of working on paper though, is that you can chop it up or paint over it. I particularly liked the lotus flower shape so I carefully cut it out and glued it onto another work in progress made using masking fluid and coloured inks.

Since working four days a week I am often in family and relaxation mode at night time, but I felt super-inspired to paint last night. I think it's because I bought myself a beautiful bunch of flowers - just because - and the tiny white, pink and yellow flowers on them filled me with the urge to match their beauty. Isn't nature exquisite?!

To bring their essence into my Artwork, I added some gel pen outlines to the trees, helped the blue moon glow and filled some white dots to recreate the pretty flower centres of pink and golden yellow.

There's a sense of rising power to me here ... something quite humble, beautiful and warm. I'll be sure to upload pics as she comes to her final stages.

New Painting - Bouquet Spirit

Chrissy Foreman Cranitch

I have a heartfelt new painting to share withy you today ... an Artwork that has taken over one year to come together. Her name is 'Bouquet Spirit'.

 Bouquet Spirit. 24" X 24" acrylic on canvas. 2015

Bouquet Spirit. 24" X 24" acrylic on canvas. 2015

Like me, Bouquet Spirit has taken on many incarnations in the past year or so. She began as a loose and free, expressive colour piece, then morphed into a night-inspired flower painting and again in recent weeks, became a light, airy, sunset-inspired bouquet of Love.

I have put together a little one minute movie of her unfolding over the last year. Check it out below ...

Prints of 'Bouquet Spirit' are available HERE from $25.
